About Chocolate

Meet Chocolate! He is a handsome long haired 6 year old, 15.8 pound Dachshund. Chocolate was surrendered to the rescue after his owner became ill and was unable to take care of him. He was sad when he came in and it took him some time to adjust. Once he got comfortable, he showed us he is a friendly, affectionate boy who loves to be with his person! Chocolate is laid back, likes to cuddle on the couch, and loves belly rubs. He will bark to let you know he's ready to be picked to get on the big bed to sleep at night. He loves to curl up with a blanket. Chocolate uses a doggy door and is great with his housebreaking. He gets along with pretty much all his foster siblings as long as they don't get in his space. He doesn't like young active dogs or lots of commotion, and a home with young kids isn't a good fit for him. He has not been tested with cats, but dachshunds as a rule are not big cat fans!Chocolate doesn't like to walk on the leash, but he loves to explore and lie in the sun, so a fenced yard is preferred. He has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. His neuter and dental have been scheduled at our vet and are covered by the rescue. Chocolate is an adorable boy who will be a great companion for a lucky person!
