We have a very large, neutered, 1.5 yo male Armenian Gampr (aka Armenian Wolfhound) available to the right situation. [Gamprs are very similar to Tibetan Mastiffs.] Ragnar comes from something of a city pet background, with little livestock experience. He has been slowly introduced to our livestock, but needs more time and strict supervision to be a successful LGD that can mix with the herd. He needs to be placed in a new home with fully fenced land or a farm and no other dominant dog. So far, Ragnar has been ok with the chickens and is generally ok with people when introduced slowly and non-aggressively, but he has not liked cats and is very dog-selective. He is ok with the livestock so long as there is a fence between them, but when they are on the same side he gets far too excited to be safe. He is getting better with increased exposure. I expect he would be successful in guarding a property against strangers and coyotes or other predators. Most suitable to a home with few visitors and only older children. He does like his people and enjoys being with them. He is very well-behaved in the house unless something outside alarms him. He is very protective and has a very loud scary bark. Contact me for more information. For experienced LGD handlers only!
