About Lady Locket

Adoption Fee: $350
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Lady Locket (40 pounds, ~3 years old) is available for adoption! Locket is house trained, crate trained, spayed, and is currently finishing her last round of heartworm treatment. She will be heartworm free on April 12! Locket is originally from Orlando Animal Control, where she was found emaciated and with a chain padlocked around her neck. Since then, she has grown to a healthy weight and has learned about all of the good things life can offer! She is still missing some hair around her neck from where the chain rubbed her skin, but her skin is now healthy, and we expect her to regain all of her hair with time. Her coat has already transformed into a truly beautiful brindle coloring that regularly gets compliments. Locket LOVES people. She has never met a stranger and wants to kiss anyone who even looks at her. She is exuberant and is still learning not to jump on people, so she would be best for a family with no small children. She LOVES going on walks and walks very nicely on a gentle leader. She is anxious around other dogs on leash (she barks at them) but has already improved with training. She did fine with other dogs in playgroups at the shelter and should be fine with another companion dog with slow and careful introductions. She is not well-suited for a home with cats - cats tend not to appreciate her exuberant play style. This girl is SMART. She is food motivated, a blast to train, and is already learning some basic scent work to keep her mind busy. She LOVES toys - she will collect them from all over the house to put in her bed. She will need an active home that can keep her physically and mentally stimulated. She requires a home with a fenced-in yard. Are you looking for a silly, happy, ridiculous girl to keep you laughing? Look no further!
