About Saint (west)

Lab mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA. Hi, my name is SAINT - ID#A4488132. I am a neutered male, brown and brindle Labrador Retriever mix, and I weigh about 45 lbs. The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Oct 16, 2020. Saint is both playful and dog social. He does get a little rough and rowdy, though. He is easy on leash, and prefers children 12 and older due to play style. He is over the shelter environment; came in timid and now needs out ASAP! Saint is jumping and wanting out of that tiny kennel. His paws are beginning to bleed and his nails are worn. He is jumping and barking excessively to beg to get out of the kennel. This deterioration happens to all social animals eventually when they have been incarcerated for long periods of time. They need social interaction whether with other dogs or people. Here are some notes about Saint: 10/16/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT A little timid coming in, tail tucked, allowed all handling and vaccines with light restraint, allowed petting, walked well on leash to kennel. 10/17/2020 EVALUATION Soft body, wagging tail in kennel; hesitant of leash placement; slightly wary/cuatious during collar placement; timid, but handler was able to pet; explored yard, coexisted with multiple dogs; several male dog started to escalate when greeting this dog, but this dog did not appear to cause escalation. 10/22/2020 ENRICHMENT Per volunteer: Easy pull/return. Loose leash walker. Very soft and gentle interactions. Knows sit and takes treats very nicely. Wants to be near handler and is very affectionate. Not reactive towards dogs at all during walk or in wing. 11/15/2020 OBSERVATION Easy kennel pull; walked on leash with some pulling, then walked on loose leash away from buildings; explored play yard; affiliative, relaxed with handler; wagged tail, leaned into petting; moved dog to S wing to allow dog to decompress from repeatedly jumping when people walk by, etc. 'URGENT' If you have no breed restrictions, please call ASAP = 520-800-4633.
