About Pollock (west)

Pit Bull mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA Hi, my name is POLLOCK - ID#A4465185. I am a neutered male, gray and white American Pit Bull Terrier, and I weigh about 43 lbs. The shelter staff think I am about 4 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Sep 04, 2020. Pollock is scheduled to be euthanized in the next few days unless we can find a home for him. He is deteriorating in his kennel. This happens to all social animals eventually when they have been incarcerated for long periods of time. They need social interaction whether with other dogs or people. Here are the most recent notes about Pollock: 11/11/2020 OBSERVATION Moved into behavior team office on 11/4/2020. Easily aroused by petting and become mouthy; easy to redirect with toys, food, or just by ignoring him when he becomes aroused. Enjoys toys and bones; obsessively chews on his blanket, but not with toys. Solicits attention; treat motivated and catches onto training quickly; knows sit. Will take shoes to chew on; must have food or toy to trade for things he has. 11/12/2020 OBSERVATION Will chase birds when in the yard and is difficult to redirect when aroused. In the office: Enjoys chewing on toys and will eat any edible bone. 11/13/2020 ENRICHMENT Canine has been staying in office for the last week. Canine was affiliative with staff, solicited attention. Would sometimes get over aroused and become mouthy with handlers. Tried to take food from handlers, pushy about it. Easy to take to and from yard. Took treats from strangers that would come in, sometimes wary. 11/17/2020 OBSERVATION Overaroused in kennel, jumping/barking/salivating; bit at leash multiple times before handler was able to place; attempted to fence fight, pulled moderately strong to play yard; in yard, leaned into petting from handler but became overaroused/pacing/barking when other dogs passed yard, would not settle; attempted fence fight on return but easy re-entering kennel, easy leash removal. Please consider saving the life of this little guy. He does not deserve to die this way. 'URGENT' - If you have no breed restrictions, please call ASAP 520-800-4633
