About Pauline

Lab / Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Pauline! Pauline is a total sweetheart looking for a foster home! Pauline was found wandering the streets of Tennessee and soon the shelter realized she was pregnant! Pauline was rescued and gave birth to 12 adorable puppies in a foster home. She was a fantastic mom to her babies, but deserves to be the center of attention now! Pauline is about 3 years old and 45lbs. Pauline loves to take walks and walks really nicely on a leash. Pauline has recently learned to play with toys! This was a very exciting development! She loves squeaky toys best but has also found her love for bones as well. A well-behaved house guest, Pauline is house trained. She will paw at the door when she needs to go out. She's also crate trained. Pauline can be a little nervous when meeting new people. Though she can be won over with treats! Her ideal home is a lower key one. She'd do best in a home where the kids are teens or older. She lives with another female dog and they love to hang out and chase squirrels together. Though she doesn't quite know how to play with the other dog yet. Pauline would appreciate someone to help her build confidence through basic obedience training. Thankfully she is very food motivated, making for easier training. Pauline loves to have her head petted and loves to lean in for extra snuggles. When her puppies were getting snuggles, she'd just climb right up on to her foster's lap too. It didn't matter that she didn't fit, she just wanted some love too! She also loves a good belly rub! Pauline is heartworm positive and will need a foster home for 2-3 months while she receives treatment. Heartworm treatment consists of 30 days of antibiotics, two shots given 24 hours apart and then 30 days of restricted activity. After that, she'll be ready to go! Pauline is a fantastic girl. She loves her people, toys, and walks. When her people arrive home, she greets them with whole body wiggles! Will you foster this sweet girl and help her through treatment? This program allows you to be the family that greets them when they arrive in Illinois. Foster to Adopt families have the first option to adopt if you determine this is the pup right for you! While you foster, we pay all expenses from vetting, to food and we provide a crate, leash, collars, and toys. Your family provides love (something they desperately needs!) and a safe place to lay their head until they find a forever home. We also require that you have the ability to take the pup to routine veterinary visits at our participating vets. These vets are located in Wheaton, Naperville, Geneva, South Elgin, and Elmhurst. Spay/Neuters are done in Geneva, South Elgin, and North Aurora. We also request that you bring the dog to our adoption events twice a month. These events are typically on Saturday from 10-1 Fostering is the most life giving thing you can do for a dog or puppy! It is a very rewarding experience that will make a huge impact on their life. By becoming a foster you are saving 2 lives - the animal you bring into your home while he or she waits to be adopted, and the animal who gets to take your foster's place in the shelter. Please email [email protected] for a foster application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
