About Asher

Asher is a shy female Lab-mix looking for a special angel to give her the home she has never known. Almost two years old and medium in size, she has uniquely colored eyes; one blue and one brown. This poor baby didn't have much human interaction early in life and what little she received was not positive. Consequently, Asher was extremely fearful when she first entered our shelter along with her two pups, Opal and Raven. It has taken consistent loving care by devoted volunteers to help Asher and her babes learn people can be trusted. She is responding well and has really blossomed over the past several weeks. Instead of hiding in a corner and shivering in fright, she feels confident enough now to interact with volunteers and accept affection. Asher doesn't have any idea what a toy is, but does enjoy walking around outside and exploring the shelter play yard. Her interactions with other dogs were initially limited to her pups, Opal and Raven. They all love each other and are quite bonded. We would be over the moon if someone would consider adopting all three or perhaps just two. Over time, we introduced other calm well-balanced dogs to Asher's play group and she has responded well. It may be of benefit for her to have another stable dog in her new home she can bond with and model. She would also be perfectly content receiving all your attention as the only dog. She does best when you keep her on a routine schedule; knowing what to expect next makes her feel secure. Asher would be best in a quiet, calm adult-only home with an experienced dog owner who is home most of the day. She prefers to putter around the house as you go about your day. Asher would enjoy having a fenced in yard she could explore at her leisure. This special girl will develop a close bond with her new owner if given patience, understanding and time; and more importantly, LOVE.
