Courtesy Posting: ADORABLE & ADOPTABLE SR LAB MIX NEEDS A HERO TO ADOPT OR RESCUE HER AND GIVE HER A LOVING HOME! CANDICE - ID #A050575 Upland Shelter, Upland, So Cal https://petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=UPLD.A050575 Candice is a 10 yr young spayed female Lab/Pei mix (note: the shelter has her listed as a Pei/Lab mix; however, we think she looks like a Lab mix) that has been at the shelter since 7/29 and really needs someone to step up and give her a loving home. Per the shelter, 'Candice was initially transferred to us from another shelter. She was adopted and did incredibly well in her first home and then the owner went in for surgery and returned her to us. It was the second adoption where she was destructive (per the adopter)--they did not give her kongs/toys etc to amuse her and just expected her to integrate into the household immediately. Candice is learning to ignore other dogs as she walks through the kennels and has improved dramatically in this area. She has learned to site before every door opens in order to go through to the next door. She loves to play in the kiddie pool when it is warm and will also chase the ball. She is very treat driven so that helps in training her. As per the trainer Candice does have a strong prey drive and is reactive to other dogs when she is out of the kennel area and also wants to chase the squirrels in the park. She prefers to approach people on her own terms rather than people rushing to greet her. Once she knows someone she is extremely friendly and loves to put her front feet in your lap while you are sitting down. If she knows you, she is loyal to you. She will need to be the only animal in the home since she sees squirrels and cats as prey and doesn't get along with most other dogs. She was adopted for a short time and then returned. They took her home and left her alone and she chewed up things so they returned her. Once Candice knows you she loves attention so being put in the back yard alone would be devastating to her.' Please help us find a loving home for this dear girl Candice who is so deserving. Please contact [email protected] at Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with placement.
