About Melody

Melody was playing with Penny, our dachshund and penny's back broke and she died. Not purposeful, not malicious, and not intentional. They have played many times before, nothing new. Melody is still looking for Penny. She has never shown aggression to my wife, me, any people, dogs at the dog park, or kids. She has been with Penny our dachshund, Abby our Jack Russell, and two cats since she was rescued at 8 months old and I have had her for 2 years. My wife can't deal with the emotional toll and with her being 4 months pregnant I have to do what I can to lessen the toll. I'm a firefighter who has been at work for the last 5 months except for 15 days. Neither of us want her to be put down nor does she deserve it. I have had post be flagged every step of the way. We need her to go to a good home with someone who knows dogs with pit mixed in. I know pits are not a breed but characteristics butI don't know what which breed. She is a sweet dog, we can hand feed her, take food or treats out of her mouth. She knows something is different. She was nuzzling and whimpering at Penny when I came outside. She tested positive for heart worms shortly after I got her and the first round of treatment didn't take. I was preparing for round two. Because of the treatment, covid, and me being gone so much this year she is very energetic. She has 3 things working against her, heart worms, mixed with some sort of pit, and she killed our dog no matter if it wasn't intentional.
