Yorkie
Age: Adult

This adorable, sweet Yorkie girl is Zoey. She is estimated to be 5-1/2 years old and weighs a perfect 8 lbs. Zoey is being fostered in North Port, FL. Due to Covid-19 dogs being fostered in Florida will need to be adopted within the state of Florida. UPDATED BIO 11/05/2020: Hi Everyone, its me - Zoey! I wanted to let you know that I am getting a little more comfortable each day in my foster home and I absolutely LOVE my foster sister Lillie. I am still not comfortable with any kind of noise or people trying to approach me - it just really scares me. Foster mom works so hard every day with me on this contraption she calls a leash. I am getting better she said, but it is not my favorite activity by any means. I am also trying hard on my bathroom etiquette, but foster mom says Rome was not built in day. Whatever that means. Foster mom here . I just would like to let you know what we have observed with Zoey since she has been in our home, which has helped us determine what will be the perfect forever home for her. Zoey is still extremely skittish due to her sad background in a puppymill. She is frightened of loud or unexpected noises and does not like unknown people to approach her. She is still reluctant to come to you when she is called. Unfortunately, it is still a challenge to catch her for outside time she is likely frightened that something bad will happen to her so very sad. Zoey absolutely needs to have a fur sister/brother in her forever home that is laid back and docile as she really needs to bond with another dog. She is completely dependent on her fur-sister Lillie and when Lillie is not in her sight, Zoey will sometimes have a little melt-down. If Zoey gets stressed, she may walk in circles, which is very typical of former puppy mill dogs. Hopefully, this behavior will continue to subside as she feels more comfortable in her role as a beloved companion dog Here's the important things that Zoey will need in her forever home. Please consider these before you apply to adopt Zoey as no exceptions will be made: - Zoey will need at least one stay-at-home parent. Many folks are now working from home due to COVID, but this will need to be a permanent work-from- home situation. - Zoey needs to have a fenced-in yard as she is a flight risk. Foster mom has been working with her on the leash, but she is still terrified of it. She has never had a collar/leash on her before arriving in her foster home. - Zoeys house-training has improved in her foster home, but she still needs a lot of work in this area. Lots of repetition and frequent trips outside will be needed. - Zoey needs to have a doggie companion close to her age and size to help her maneuver through this wonderful new life and world that has opened up to her. Zoey is a wonderful little girl who has a strong appetite and even with only 1 tooth, she handles hard kibble with no problem. Zoey will need a home with forever parents that are willing to commit to the time and patience to let her know she is very loved and safe and will never ever be neglected or abused again. Could your home be the perfect home for Zoey?
