About Hazel

Hazel is a 9 mos old 20 lb Greyhound mix. In foster in olympia, WA No apartments/condos she can be noisy. MAYBE perhaps a specific condo if noise doesn't travel Do you know Hei Hei, the rooster, from Moana? Then you will be familiar with the personality of our beautiful Hazel! Hazel is a 9 month old mostly Italian Greyhound. Making sense of her surroundings is probably never going to be fast or easy for Hazel. Once she does, she will surprise you with her determination to accomplish some goal she has fixated on such as chewing Christmas tree lights, playing with the cat (which she does by sitting on her hind legs and windmilling her front paws around in the direction of the unimpressed cats), pulling the bed out of the Bully girl's crate and sleeping on it even if it is upside down. She will run super fast with the Italian Greyhound hops every 2 or 3 feet and she can jump very high! When something is in her path outside or inside she will whine until you show her how to get around it or remove the obstacle. When she gets tired or confused which happens often she will put her nose against a wall usually in a corner and be silent. If you don't know her usual spots you almost need a GPS tracker to find her in your house. Hazel is not now and maybe never will be entirely house trained. She hasn't been able to walk on a leash yet but now that she is staying awake longer we are working on that. If she is agitated by too much commotion she will try to climb onto the head of the nearest human. Hazel is unable to be left alone at this point in her life but that may change as she gets older and grows comfortable in a forever home. For all of these reasons the ideal home for Hazel will be one in which someone is able to be with her at all times, there is another smallish dog for her to follow outside and snuggle with inside, probably no children or at least not very young children, no rentals due to her loud voice and lack of house training, and the understanding that this is a very special needs dog so you decide not so much to get a pet but to take on a new fur kid but she is welll honestly a project. The rescue had medical in Tx. Since being here in Olympia, WA we have had a complete exam with the vet, fecal, full blood panel, x rays and toxicology exam. NOTHING is wrong with her physically that we or the vets could find. (yes her vet bill is close to $1000 just since being in the NW), not counting all her other medical, transport, etc. This is a posting for L & S Dog Diggity Rescue.
