Courtesy Posting: LOVING HOME NEEDED FOR 34 LB SWEET SENIOR CHOW/SPITZ MIX GIRL PIPPY - ID #A1957281 Harbor Shelter, San Pedro, So Cal https://petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=LACT1.A1957281 Pippy is a beautiful smaller sweet and older chow mix (maybe with finnish or german spitz) weighing only 36 lbs and estimated to be 10 years young. Sadly, she finds herself at the LA City Harbor Shelter after being dumped by her owner who alleged he could not keep her due to landlord. The owner also said she was missing for a month and returned limping, although she seems to be doing better now since being placed on meds for an infection. We have lots of videos to share. Pippy was formerly called Moxie and has a beautiful soft furry red coat. She is well mannered but a bit shy or nervous. Like many chows, she will walk away from you at first and watch you from a distance but once she is comfortable and with a little time she will slowly come up to her handler and sit next to you and allow you to pet her. When she was introduced to a large older male pit bull, she just watched him from a distance and didn't approach. She also had her smaller young dog around her and she didn't pay any attention to the dog. Per her prior owner, she lived with a Lab, although she was shy and didn't play with her. She is also said to know sit, come, stay and shake command. When she was Moxie, she was sadly housed mostly outdoors, but slept inside at night. She is reported to walk well on a leash. Please help us find a loving home for this dear girl now named Pippy who is so deserving.
