About Lexie&Callie

Callie and Lexie are tricolor female Beagle mixes that grew up in a tough part of town. Besides the elderly man that took them under his wing, the other neighborhood residents were not very kind to them. Lacking resources to properly care for them and fearing for their safety, he reached out to us for help. Fortunately, we were able to bring them into our rescue recently and both are doing quite well. At first, Callie and Lexie were understandably wary of volunteers. It has been a journey gaining their trust. With patience and love, our volunteers showed them not all people were bad and soon won them over. These two girls have really blossomed over the past few weeks and are now ready to be adopted. Callie and Lexie are approximately one and half years old, medium in size, and have been fully vetted. Both would make wonderful companions for someone that is home most of the day. They do very well in the company of another confident dog but are happy just being alone together. They tend to be anxious and fearful of children because of prior abuse suffered at their hands. Older children that are dog savvy and respectful would likely gain their trust. They are fond of some of our teenage volunteers. Callie and Lexie will need a fenced in yard at their new home. They are not accustomed to leashed walks but do enjoy playing and running outdoors. Both prefer going on grass and are housebroken if kept on a regular schedule. These two girls are very affectionate loving dogs that deserve a second chance.
