Dixie was originally trapped at an apartment building parking lot, where she ate food off the pavement when available. At one point she may have been a pet that was abandoned. At the time she was trapped, she was pregnant and pretty far along. She was able to deliver her kittens and wean them in a safe environment. Her babies were all adopted out. Dixie was spayed with the possibility of being returned to the area she was trapped. One of the fosters wanted to give her a chance to see if she could be socialized and adopted as well. She is a Norwegian Forest Cat and absolutely gorgeous! She is long haired with a thick tail, and tufts of fur on her paws as well as her ears. At first she was terrified and trembled when anyone tried to touch her. Now she is becoming a sweet loving cat, that loves petting and being brushed. According to the paper work she is approximately 2 1/2 years old. She needs someone who is patient and willing to gain her trust. She has no experience with children or dogs. She is great with her litter box. It would be best if Dixie was adopted locally, there is no way to arrange transport out of state.
