About Canelo

Canelo is a handsome 5 year old Chihuahua/Basenji mix who is looking for a loving forever home. He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown. Canelo has quite the personality and will make a wonderful pup for the right family, but he will need a family that is the perfect fit! Canelo has sadly spent most of his life outside and if he was ever in trouble, he was punished by not receiving affection or attention. Canelo is warming up to gentle affection from those he trusts, but is understandably timid and standoffish with new people. Canelo will need a patient and loving family of adults over 18 only. Canelo loves the attention of those he trusts and can be dominant of other pets, so he would be happiest as the only pet. Canelo loves to play, especially with toys and would love an active home with plenty of toys! He is good on leash and would be a perfect running buddy. Canelo was used to spending too much time outside, but is still used to having a yard to run and speak his mind in so he will need a home with a yard, no apartments please. Canelo can be a digger, so he will need to be watched to make sure he doesn't do too much gardening. He is a sweet boy, but he will need lots of patience, gentle love and some training. He is partially house broken, but will need continued work and reminders. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, vet checked and microchipped. His adoption fee is $160 which includes a free vet visit.
