About Titan

Titan, 5 years old, Black/Rust, Cropped/Docked Titan came to DRU as a stray from New York and has established himself as the shelter's official 'bouncer' and the beloved mascot of the front office. He is a true classic Doberman: watchful and alert and extremely critical of anything going on in his world that he thinks 'doesn't belong', he is still playful and affectionate with his trusted caregivers and has earned the unlikely nickname of 'Pinky' due to his affinity for pink squeaky pig toys. This hard-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside demeanor is what most knowledgeable Doberman fans love, but the price we pay for it is taking responsibility for a serious dog who should not be expected to be 'community property' with visitors and friends. If you need your canine companion to go to cookouts and participate in holiday gatherings Titan is not the dog for you. Similarly, if your home has an open-door policy for friends and family, life with Titan will become unenjoyable quickly. His ideal home would be in the care of an experienced working dog handler who will provide him with the leadership he craves and the respect he deserves. A secure fenced yard and a quiet household free of other animals is mandatory, as is a willingness to commit to the kind of structure and consistency that Titan thrives on at DRU. In the company of his people, Titan is fun-loving, playful and responsive to commands. To become one of 'his people' you will need to be patient, firm and confident. In return you will earn the trust and respect of a great representative of the 'real' Doberman Pinscher.
