About Ross

Adoption Fee: $325
Chihuahua mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Introducing Ross, a 6 month old, 16 pound Chihuahua Terrier mix! Ross was surrendered into rescue from a hoarding situation. As is often the case in these situations, Ross was not very socialized and cautious of new people. He was a bit timid at first in his new foster home and of the dog pack, but within a few days he was fitting right in and playing like the puppy he is! Ross regularly seeks affection from his foster mom and gives kisses. He enjoys lying right up against you at night, cuddled under the covers. He loves toys and typically keeps a supply around him. He sometimes will walk through the house with one in his mouth and often brings them to bed. Ross is very active and needs a regular outlet for his energy with lots of play several times a day. He loves playing with the other foster dogs, likes to fetch and play tug, and is partial to playing chase in the backyard. A dog buddy would be wonderful for Ross. He has never been alone, whether it is a person or a dog, but typically it was always other dogs. He would likely be happiest if he had a furry friend so we are looking for a home with at least one other dog for him to play with. Ross has done really well with his potty training, knows his name, and follows basic commands. He may only be 6 months old, but he is intelligent and follows direction very well! Ross is a puppy and sometimes gets things he probably shouldn't, (a slipper, a tv remote, etc.) but he doesn't damage them, he just likes to take them to his bed! He is not good at walking on a leash and does not like to be put in a harness, but we are working on that. We are requiring a fenced yard, mostly so he has a safe place to run and play. He has some anxiety about car rides; that also is getting better. We're unsure how he is with cats and children, but believe he would be good with children who treat him well and are gentle with him. Ross does bite at your hand during play and when he's showing you love, he doesn't mean to hurt you, but younger children and some people may not like this. We are working to correct that behavior. Ross will bark if the other dogs bark or if he sees something out the window and sometimes during play, but is otherwise quiet. He is a good boy! Ross is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and has a lifelong microchip registration. You are interested in this smart playful pup please submit an adoption application for review! He will be a great dog for an active family or person looking for a new pup to add to their family!
