Mellow senior Pup COWBOY has a mass on his front foot and needs vet attention. The smiling frosty-faced gentleman greeted shelter-staff with a waggy tail and is very well behaved. A loving home is what sweet fluffy COWBOY really needs right now. COWBOY, ID# 105444, 10 yrs old, 70 lbs, Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Brown Male, Surrender Reason: Stray, Brought to Precinct as a stray Shelter Assessment Rating: Medical Behavior Rating: 2. Blue INTAKE PROFILE - BASIC INFORMATION: Cowboy is an approx. 5 year old (as per Medical Exam 10 yrs old!) large mixed that was brought to the precinct as a stray and surrendered to the shelter. The officers stated that Cowboy was friendly upon approach and allowed all handling. INTAKE NOTES - DATE OF INTAKE, 10/19/2020: Upon Intake, Cowboy allowed counselor to collar, scan for a microchip, and place a leash over his head without growling or showing teeth. Cowboy held a loose body and neutral tail throughout intake. BEHAVIOR NOTES MEDICAL BEHAVIOR - Date of initial: 10/19/2020 Summary: Initially nervous but warmed up quickly after being interacted with, wagging tail and seeking attention. Muzzled as a precaution during intake tasks. Allowed all handling. MEDICAL EXAM NOTES 19-Oct-2020 DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~10 yrs Microchip noted on Intake? No History: Agency Subjective: BARH, no c/s/v/d. No elimination concerns. Observed Behavior - Initially nervous but warmed up quickly after being interacted with, wagging tail and seeking attention. Muzzled as a precaution during intake tasks. Allowed all handling. Evidence of Cruelty seen -No Evidence of Trauma seen -No Objective P = WNL R = WNL BCS = 7/9 EENT: OU degenerative lens changes. No ocular/nasal discharge. Ears mild ceruminous debris with no evidence of otitis externa. Oral Exam: adult dentition, moderate to severe dental plaque/tartar, moderate to severe gingival inflammation. no oral lesions. MM pink, moist, CRT (2s. No skin tent appreciated. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: No murmurs or arrhythmias ausculted. Lungs clear, eupnic, no crackles or wheezes. ABD: Soft, non-painful, no masses palpated U/G: MI, 2 palpable testicles, no discharge MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, large (aprox golf ball sized) semi firm circular mass noted on LFL between digits 4 and 5, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Not performed, externally normal Assessment: Senior pet Stage IV dental disease Mass r/o benign vs malignant vs other Nuclear sclerosis Prognosis: Fair pending histopathology Plan: CTM while at BACC Recommend routine senior bloodwork, mass removal with histopathology, and neuter with placement if good anesthetic candidate.
