***READ MAX'S BIO THOROUGHLY BEFORE INQUIRING. ALL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED** PLEASE NOT THAT MAX CANNOT BE AN 'ONLY' DOG! HE MUST HAVE ANOTHER YOUNG AND VERY VERY PLAYFUL DOG IN THE HOME!! This is Max, our handsome little fellow who is an almost 1 year old, male Maltest/Yorkie/Terrier mix who is about 14lbs. Max came to us when his owner realized she didn't have the time to care for him. We are looking for a very SPECIFIC home for Max. ALL of these requirement must be met in order to be considered. He is a dog that will come to your home very scared and nervous, so he needs a home that will take the time to allow him to acclimate and get comfortable in his new surroundings. Max is very skittish when it comes to touch. In fact, it is almost impossible to get a collar/leash on him. He will absolutely avoid you touching him near the neck/face area and he will not let you pick him up. It takes a whole production to make this happen and because of this he needs a home WITHOUT young children (13 years old and older is ok) and he CANNOT go into a senior home. He is way to fast and too skittish for these kinds of homes and can be a flight risk if safety measures aren't taken seriously. MAX CANNOT BE AN 'ONLY' DOG. HE MUST GO INTO A HOME WITH ANOTHER YOUNG AND PLAYFUL DOG HIS SIZE OR SMALLER. Please do not ask if he can be an only dog if you take him to the dog park or to friend's houses that have a dog. Our rescue firmly believes that puppies need to be IN A HOME with another young dog. When we say he needs a playful dog, we mean a very playful dog. When Max is comfortable in his new home and starts to play, he plays rough! He will bite on the tail (playfully), bite on the neck (playfully but rough) and drag the other dog around. Some dogs are not ok with this, so our main goal is to make sure Max goes into a home where the other dog will play with him in that manner and not get upset. If your dog does not play in that fashion or gets grumbly with a very playful dog, then it will not work. We really need a home for him where the owners are PUPPY SAVVY. Max is all puppy and is still in the 'chewing faze' meaning he has chewed on the corner of a couch, chewed shoes, chewed outdoor furniture, chews socks, blankets, etc. He needs a home that is relaxed in that manner and will accept that this is what puppies do. Max CANNOT be crated. He came from a home where he was in a crate many hours during the day and we don't want that for him again. Another requirement is that he needs a home with a safe and enclosed backyard. He CANNOT be an apartment or condo dog. Max is like a pony and he prances and jumps very high, so we are requiring a dog gate put up at the front door as an extra precaution to prevent him from running out the front door each time it's opened. Regardless if you have a secure screen door or fenced in front yard, a dog gate will be required. Max is just an energetic little puppy who needs guidance, patience, and lots of love to make him become the best dog ever!
