About Louie

This handsome red boy is Louie, a 4.5 years old Australian Cattledog mix who weighs about 37 pounds. Louie knows his basics: Sit, down, up, back, forward, paw, off, and leave it. Louie is also house and crate trained. He will go and bark at the door, asking you to let him out when he needs to go to the bathroom. As for the crate, he loves his crate. It can sometimes take him 5-10 minutes to settle in, but then he chills out. Louie is a typical Cattledog in preferring to have a polite introduction to new people. Once he is introduced properly, he is nice. We have heard that he did live with kids, so a home with an older kid or two may be okay. Louie also seems to do just fine with other dogs after a polite introduction. He even does nicely in group obedience classes, ignoring other dogs and focusing on his people. Like many Cattledogs, he isn't a dog park kind of guy. We also aren't sure how he would be with small dogs, so medium and large dogs who are polite and balanced would be his preference. He has been known to play with some dog pals, too. Louie loves to fetch. LOVES to fetch. Click on the red YouTube button to see him fetching in the yard. His new home must want to play. Louie is good on leash with a solid handler. With a gentle leader and reminders to be polite, not barking at others, he is a nice guy on walks. Louie has had a few car rides and can practice more. He could be a really nice adventure pal. Louie is a fun guy but is also a typical Cattledog punk. His new home requires people who are good leaders. Pushovers need not apply, since he will take advantage. He also has a tendency to want to get on the furniture, especially if you leave him alone for a while. Louie's ideal home has herder or similar breed experience, wants a dog to keep up with them, and is with him more often than not. Louie is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is located in Long Beach. He is available for a meet and greet in SoCal. We do not ship our dogs.
