READ THE WHOLE BIO BEFORE INQUIRING!!! Breeze is a 20 month old large mixed breed dog. I acquired her in August due to her former family being in disagreement on whether she was to remain a part of the household. She was dumped outside and would not be allowed back into the home under any circumstances. I'm looking for an excellent home who will have a high standard of care for her. I will be VERY selective. The following is a very honest description of who she is, her needs, & the type of home she will thrive in. Breeze is a big, happy goofball who wants to have fun & be loved. She is a total dork (in the best ways) who loves to parade around with a toy & shake it so it slaps her in the head or sides. She loves to roll over onto her back & hang out, sometimes while holding a toy in her paws or mouth. She enjoys a good growly game of tug or fetch. She LOVES to go on sniff-walks & put her nose to work. She's very social with adults & kids, but can be a bit mouthy. She wants to play, but is learning that us two-legged folks don't appreciate having our arms or hands inside her mouth! She has improved greatly but it is something to keep in mind if there are kids present. Breeze has some health concerns. She came to me very overweight & she had a history of severe allergy issues that included itching, hair loss, dry red skin, & chewing/licking. Based on her vet records, these issues surfaced after receiving vaccines and flea/tick meds. She was being fed an average quality kibble. She has been switched to a raw diet and has shown great improvement. I feel she would greatly benefit from a fully fresh-food diet (raw or cooked) & holistic alternatives to traditional flea, tick, & heartworm treatments. I can recommend a holistic vet who can provide more guidance in this area. I also had some concerns about her joints and brought her to my vet to investigate. She is not dysplastic at this time, but it's possible she may develop it as she gets older. For this reason, it's important she is kept on a good joint supplement & even more important that she is kept lean & well muscled - NEVER overweight. Breeze has a lovely temperament & has been generally well mannered. She has shown no inclination to problem behaviors such as counter surfing, garbage raiding, food stealing, or resource guarding from people. She can be destructive with toys IF allowed to sit & pull them apart, but is easily redirected & hasn't been destructive with anything else. We have been working on basic training foundations. She would need continued professional training & responds best to positive, motivational methods. Breeze is good in the car, is crate trained, & house trained. She is quite food motivated, moderately play motivated, & finds sniffing to be highly reinforcing. I believe Breeze would thrive in a pet home with a holistic minded family who leads an active lifestyle & are willing to ensure that she stays lean & well muscled, keep her on a fresh food diet, and provide holistic health care. Her future family should be eager to continue her training using positive training methods. She would do best with a physical fence; I do not trust her off-leash. She loves to use her nose & would enjoy hikes in the woods & potentially scent based dog sports. Breeze is social with other dogs, but can be pushy & invasive, which isn't tolerated by some dogs. Other dogs in the home would need to be laid back & not mind her pushy nature. She is overly interested in cats & wants to chase & mouth at them. Kids are fine, but it's probably best that they are around ten years or older because of her tendency to be mouthy when excited.%BD%A0 Contact through email only, please!
