About Bronson

Adoption Fee: $250
Akita
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Bronson is a loyal, fun, adventurous dog. He is a devoted companion and is very close to his humans. The breed known for its unwavering commitment to their owners. I have had him since a puppy and have taken him to obedience and aggression training since then. He needs an experienced adopter, preferably with a large enclosed yard and without other dogs around. It breaks my heart to rehome him, but I will be going into military training soon and it's not safe to keep him during that time with my elderly parents. Bronson has anxiety from being attacked by another dog as a puppy. As an adult he is very anxious and this translates into aggression with other dogs. He does not get along with my parents' akitas, and has been in a couple dog fights that were not too serious. I always keep him on leash and 50-100' from other dogs, for everyone's safety. Bronson has had some leash training recently from a professional, but he still pulls a lot. It's been difficult for my parents to walk him because they are elderly and have fallen. I think with the right training and harness (he comes with one), he can become easier for people to walk. Bronson is very friendly and happy to be around humans. He is a large dog and sometimes will jump up when greeting people, but he is good-natured. I have not had him around children so I don't know how compatible he is. He would benefit from having a large enclosed area to run/play in. Preferably with a tall fence to avoid escape. His exercise needs are moderate. I walk him twice a day, for 10-20 minutes each time. With a large enough yard, he may not need much walking. When I had a yard, he did not require much walking. Bronson does have separation anxiety when away from his akita partner or his owners. Typically if he is with his partner or me, he will be fine and calm. But if left alone he has scratched doors/walls. I typically leave him in an 8 crate if he is going to be alone for long. He needs an experienced, patient handler -- and a home without other pets. I DO have his female akita mate I am trying to rehome, and he might do better if rehomed with her too, but I am open to rehoming him individually if that is the best option.
