About Tillie

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Cattle Dog / Chow Chow
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

This beautiful girl is Tillie! Tillie was rescued as a puppy from a high kill shelter where she had been brought in after being found alone in a ditch/arroyo, scrawny and terrified. It took a few months to get her healthy, but she is a glowing two year old now (approx 45 lbs). She has strong fear instincts that she has made great progress on, but still gets overwhelmed at times. She is shy around new people but seems to warm up to women quicker than men. Kids are a bit too chaotic and noisy for her as well. No yelling or loud voices, and only positive training. She is extremely loyal and loves to just be by my side 24/7. She is quite chill in the home, happy to play quietly or just lay nearby. Tillie loves to bark! Her high anxiety keeps her on edge. Living in town gives her plenty of noises to bark at. For this reason, I believe a country life would be best where she can bark when she wants but hopefully will have less to bark about. Now for the reason I am looking to find her a new forever home. Now two years old, her personality is maturing. She is turning out to be a dominant dog and with her high anxiety she is not getting along great with other dogs. She has even stopped playing around our younger pup as she is too concerned about taking away all the toys instead of sharing and playing. Alone, she still wants to play, but not if there is another dog around. She really loves to be the center of attention where she can have all the love, toys and bones to herself. She needs to be in a home where she will always be the only dog. She also needs to go to someone experienced with Australian Cattle Dogs/Blue Heelers. She does have the strong tendency to nip and pinch when she is excited or wants something. We are working on training this out of her, but as you know it is a strong instinct. This is a hard decision to make, but I want Tillie to have the happiest life she can to make up for her early weeks in life. I want her to be at ease at home and not worried about other dogs and as few fears as possible. If you think you might be the perfect match for Tillie, please reach out. I would like to stay in touch once she is rehomed so I can be sure she is adjusting well (and to put my heart at ease!). So please reply and tell me about the home you have waiting for Tillie!
