About Nelson

**PLEASE READ NELSON'S BIO THOROUGHLY BEFORE INQUIRING.** This is our squishy and cuddly little guy, Nelson! He is an approximately 9 yr old/18lb Corgi / Chihuahua mix who is the sweetest boy ever! Nelson came to us when he was found as a stray and taken to the shelter by the person who found him. When the shelter saw that he was microchipped, they called the owner on the chip who then told the shelter that they no longer wanted him and they were relinquishing him. It's ok, because their loss is our gain! Nelson needs to be an only dog in the home and with owners that are dog savvy, no first time dog owners please. He has leash aggression towards other dogs, but has had training with this issue and is doing much better with the tips/tricks we have learned. We need a home for him that will follow the instructions from the trainer and will continue working with him on this issue so he can be the best pup ever! At this time, the trainer suggests that he is a dog that needs his daily walk (closely monitored) and then come straight home, no stopping at the coffee shop, any stores, etc. He needs to go on that walk and straight home. The less stimulation he has, the better he will do! He is a strong and sturdy little man, so he needs an equally strong owner that can wrangle him if needed. Nelson loves everyone he meets and is really just a mellow little guy who would enjoy his daily stroll and then come home for cuddles and naps. We would love an owner that will incorporate some home cooking into his food and he is a dog that definitely should not be crated. He would love a home with a safe and secure backyard where he can lounge in the sun. Children 12 years and older would be fine, but because of his leash aggression, no young children in the home please. If you have a calm and non chaotic home and are looking for an adult dog that is just mellow and happy...then Nelson is the boy for you! Nelson is microchipped, neutered, and vaccinated.
