Her house is very chaotic and loud with a toddler, and her owner tells us it is causing Ruffles anxiety. Ruffles may snap when scared, and her owner is hoping to find her a quiet home where she can thrive. A home without children is recommended. Name: Ruffles Age: DOB 2/27/14 Breed: Australian Shepherd Sex: Female (confirmed spayed) Location: Bartow County, GA Vet Info: Ruffles is confirmed spayed. She is up to date on vaccines including Rabies, Lepto, and Distemper, and is next due for her rabies vaccine on 2/28/21. Ruffles last had a heartworm test in 2017. Ruffles's owner tells us she is completely blind, but they do not know the cause. She writes, 'Her vision started fading around 3 yrs ago. It started slow, but now she is completely blind'. Ruffles weighs about 45 pounds. Owner Info: Ruffles was originally purchased from a breeder, but the info provided when she was adopted is no longer valid. Ruffles is an indoor dog with run of the house. She is housebroken and leash trained, and knows the commands, Sit, Down, and Drop It. Ruffles can be possessive of food, and her owner tells us she does not do well with any female dog. Her owner also gave us more information about how she is with male dogs: 'She will go on the defense with male dogs but once she warms up or they leave her alone she is fine.' Ruffles's owner tells us that since she's gone blind, she has become somewhat aggressive, and bit her husband when he was trying to pick her up, likely because she was startled. Her owner writes, 'Was behind her and I believe she was startled. She bit him on the hand, but once she realized what was going on, she released without incident and was fine.' Ruffles's owner also gave us more details about what happened with her daughter: 'she did snap at my daughter which is really what has pushed me to do this... this was not her fault as my 2 yr old tripped and fell on her which of course startled her and she snapped and growled. Once she realized it was my daughter she was fine, even licked her...' Ruffles's owner tells us that other than being blind, Ruffles is in good health. Her owner also wants us to know what what a difficult decision this is. 'She is sweet and loves to cuddle, she would be a great lap dog for someone!... She deserves a better life where anxiety does not run her life like it does here.' *Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
