7 YEAR OLD, HANDSOME ACE TO BE EUTHANIZED ON WEDNESDAY, OCT 15th! DESPERATELY NEEDS A FOSTER AND RESCUE TO SAVE HIS LIFE! We never fully know a dog's background, how he was treated, or the circumstances that may have triggered aggressive behavior...especially to surrender a dog after 7 years for aggression. Ace is looking for a foster and rescue to give him a 2nd chance...one who can be patiet and go slow with him. Ace ACCT-A-76800 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Ace must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by THURSDAY OCTOBER 15th, 5:30 PM. Should Ace's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. If you are an adopter interested in this pet you must connect with a rescue partner willing to pull on your behalf. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. Intake Type: (10/8) Owner Surrender Behavior Observation: (10/12) Previous Owner Note: Ace has always tried to bite when he gets 'mad' about doing something he doesn't want to do. He has bitten her twice before when she has tried to bring him inside and he's not ready. Both bites were minor (she said they bled a little bit but were tiny and didn't even require a band aid) and a few months ago. She called for pick up because he was outside and wouldn't come in and kept lunging and trying to bite her hands. She said he is not used to a leash either. She then said there was nothing else to say about his behavior besides that he's stubborn and will try to bite. (10/9) Staff Eval: At front of kennel when first approached. Takes treats gently through bars. When door is opened slightly, tail tucks quickly under and dog begins to retreat to the back. Low growling heard and some lip licking seen. Able to gently coax back forward and initially flinched at first two attempts at being leashed, and then again retreated. Third time was able to encourage him to the front and get a loop. Hesitated before exiting. Did need some encouragement again to walk back up to his kennel when returning but otherwise went right in with no issues. Immediately retreated and would not allow a safe removal of lead. Needed to wait for it to slip off and to be retrieved later. Body language very tense and stressed with other dogs barking behind when out of kennel. In attempting to encourage continued walking, dog panicked, bucked, and flailed to try to move away from handler and get out of lead. Waited a moment for a calm, and then encouraged Ace to continue walking out the back door. Body language continued to be tense. Eyes darted around area and there were quick steps in one direction then stopped immediately. If you think you can save Ace's life, please text Irina 6102991893
