Jaeger is an approximately 2 yo, 85 lb stunningly beautiful boy. He came to us fearful, especially of men. He warmed up to our female caretaker immediately but it took some time until he felt comfortable with our male rescuers. Now he does well with all of us at the rescue. Once Jaeger makes friends, he's an unbelievably sweet, affectionate, and playful boy. Jaeger is extremely smart and he knew his name within hours, has learned sit, down, stay and how to walk properly on leash with a training tool. He goes into his crate for comfort so will do fine with training. He has never shown any aggression with us, and is actually slightly submissive with the ones he knows. Jaeger will do best with a confident female handler or with a male handler who has experience working with large dogs (we always recommend a female in the family). He has not been around children with us but has met a few who were respectful and he did well.. He will make a very loyal and protective best friend for life and he's an absolute pleasure to work with. Jaeger has done well with all of our friendly large dogs and he could do well with a balanced and mellow female companion. He has met some small dogs and did well with them, too, however, they seemed pretty intimidated by him. Even though he seems to have a prey drive he does well with our chickens in their enclosed area. But we recommend no cats or small animals. Jaeger could do well on a large property as he has an amazing recall once he bonds with his owner. Jaeger does wonderful in public; he doesn't mind people or other dogs and has no reaction or happily wags his tail if he sees another dog. We are absolutely in love with him, and anyone with a fondness for large and intelligent dogs who are eager to please has to meet him. He will truly be an absolutely amazing dog for an active person. Jaeger will be in a board and train with our trainer for 2 weeks and will have the absolute best foundation to start his life in a new home. Whoever adopts him, needs to be willing to continue his training at home. Jaeger is definitely not an apartment dog and does need a yard.
