Hi, my name is CARLTON - ID#A4435123. I am a neutered male, black and white American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 5 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Jun 25, 2020. :) I enjoy learning :) I lean in for my pets :) I love to explore :) My friends describe me with words like 'playful', 'energetic' and 'motivated' Here are the most recent notes about Carlton: 8/9/2020 WALK Easily leashed in kennel, once out became very affiliative. Went to yard initially to utilize restroom; then walked around indoors and met multiple people both men and women. Was affiliative and sought attention from strangers. Easy kennel return. 8/16/2020 OBSERVATION Easy kennel pull from back; explored play yard; came to handler for attention, leaned into petting, remained relaxed and affiliative with handler; no issue returning to kennel. 8/20/2020 OBSERVATION Energetic, jumping up on pull; pulled to yard; explored; affiliative with handler - leaned into petting; pulled towards other dogs on return. 8/22/2020 OBSERVATION Easy to leash; explored yard; came to handler when called; playful with handler and allowed petting. Mouthy during leash removal on kennel return; easily redirected with treats. 8/24/2020 ENRICHMENT Easily pulled from kennel; walked well to yard and was not reactive to barking dogs. Very treat motivated. Worked on 'sit' very affiliative with this handler. 8/31/2020 ENRICHMENT Canine started wagging tail when handler approached. Easy to pull from kennel, walked well to yard. In yard canine explored but came when called. Affiliative with handler, got the 'zoomies' after being pet by handler. Leaned in for petting. Easy to return to kennel. 9/12/2020 SUMMARY This energetic, fun guy has been waiting for a home since JUNE! Carlton came to the shelter pretty fearful and unsure of his new accommodations, but has really come out of his shell. He enjoys walks, leaning in for petting, and zooming around the play yards. Carlton may need a little extra time to warm up to new people, but is such a gem when he settles in with his new human friends.
