If interested, please include how you plan to manage her behaviors mentioned bellow, as well as any experience you may have handling dogs. Please do explain why you want her. This is a wonderful dog, but she needs an experienced handler. ---------- I have a 60 lb spayed pit mix who is very protective of the people she sees as 'master' (mom or dad). She is completely%BD%A0fine around%BD%A0veterinarians, and anyone else when mom or dad are not around. She gets very nervous around strangers outside of the home with mom and dad. Bellow is just a synopsis, I can go into more detail about everything. We are currently waiting to be evaluated by Mannered Mutts Rescue to take her. However we want to have a backup plan in place in case they are unable to take her in.%BD%A0 The good: -has basic dog training somewhat down %BD%A0(sit, let-go, place, stay) -She is a loveable goof that loves to stomp around the house in excitement when you get home -She does excellent with cats, and currently lives with 5 with no problems.( All of the cats were properly introduced to her.%BD%A0) -she is very food motivated -she walks good on a leash -very well potty trained -crate trained -medium energy dog, loves going on walks (as long as the sidewalk isn't too populated), but will also just nap the day away. -LOVES being around her people and will follow them anywhere -comes with an absolutely%BD%A0huge database of information on her behavior, triggers, and needs -she is muzzle trained -eats from hand gentle (unless it is hot dogs, they're too good to eat slow) the neutral: -has a prescription for Trazedone%BD%A0 -she has a management%BD%A0routine%BD%A0in place to limit anxiety and encourage calm and proper self soothing%BD%A0behavior. (i.e. instead of suckling a blanket for hours, go grab favorite chew toy from her crate and chew on that).%BD%A0 -when she gets excited she will look for a toy to pick up, has a toy obsession (not aggressive or protective of toys). Is rarely seen without a toy or sock in her mouth. Or laying next to her.%BD%A0 -will follow owner around the house -age 3-5 years old The bad: -has a bite history. She put a hole through someone's leather shoe (they were not injured), on a separate occasion (with a muzzle on) we were working on getting her comfortable around strangers in the home when she suddenly lunged at their face. She does not give many, if any, warning signs before attempting to bite. Important: she is ONLY aggressive when me or my partner are around. If a stranger were to approach her outside of the home she would be nervous but has never went to attack a stranger outside of the home. Our dog trainers housed her for weeks on two occasions and felt safe around her. -is dog aggressive, big and small dogs. If she sees another dog she will just freeze. We've worked extensively with dog trainers to teach her to give warning signals to other dogs that invade her space. She will now sometimes growl at another dog if they get too close. She used to just go straight for trying to fight/kill them. Most of her problems are reaction problems, she suffers from anxiety and was never taught how to interact with other dogs. Her most common reaction is to do nothing and freeze in place (I don't mean freeze and fixate like some dogs do with squirrels, I literally mean she will just stop moving and look to the human for guidance). Re stating here that she is genuinely%BD%A0great with cats. Because of her behavior with dogs though she is crated%BD%A0when we cannot supervise her. -she is not good with small children, they are too loud and move too sporadicly for her, we have witnessed her try and nip at them as they pass. (I'm purposefully not saying bite here, it was not aggressive). The ages we've seen her interact with were 5 and 7. -has anxiety, at the time of writing we are waiting for an anxiety prescription from our vet. She will compulsory lick her paws and belly raw. Allergies have been ruled out as an issue.%BD%A0 -unknown history prior to 1 year ago. General: Unknown history prior to one year ago. We got her from IACS. They found her tied to a pole outside. She is really a great dog. She just needs a home that doesn't have a lot of visitors. She just isn't the right fit for us. We want multiple dogs, and we have people over regularly. While we do have a system in place to ensure everyone's safety, ultimately%BD%A0we want a dog that we can trust around strangers and children. She will not do well in a shelter environment (she completely shuts down and won't move or eat at all until absolutely starving self). Needs a foster.
