About Buster

Adoption Fee: $150
Boxer mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

From Buster's foster mom: Well, I'm not going to kid you. Buster is a handful. And, believe me, he is much improved from when we first rescued him from being abandoned and chained without food or water. He was only about 3-4 months old at the time (about 16 months now). Frankly, none of us knew anything about Boxers or Boxer mixes (Buster) but we do know now that they stay a playful puppy for up to 3 years. (His favorite toy is an empty tin coffee can.) Is that a bad thing? It depends on what you need, want, or will put up with until they turn 3-ish. I foster Buster, and can tell he is settling down a bit. He's a real smart-aleck though. Knows how to open all the chain-link gates (now locked), the front storm door (now locked) and has learned how to avoid the electric fence area.(No solution.) The good thing is that he never runs off. But considering he is not in danger on my dead-end street, I let him stay out and 'guard' the place for a little while. He actually thinks of himself as a house dog, and loves to be in his crate night or day. He gets along with the other dogs in our home, large and small, kinda including the cats, but is terrified of the Chis that insist on giving him a hard time. He sits on command and responds to a stern 'No.' And we have plans to enroll him in PetSmart training this month (April). Hoping for some leash training to sink in. At this point, if walking with a leash is your aim, you better be a 200+ lb. man. He will need a strong arm to keep him under control on a leash. BTW, he loves to ride and is quiet as a mouse in the back seat. Buster will do well in the country as long as there is some containment for him (fenced area). He loves to run and loves water. (Ask my goldfish.) I do love the big galoot and know you will too if you know Boxers and will give the guy a chance to win you over. Please give Buster a chance to have a furever happy home that understands Boxers.
