About Ellie

Meet Ellie! She's close to or just a little over a year old. No one is quite sure what her mix is, but I can assure you that she's very sweet and very playful. Ellie was found as a stray at just a few weeks old. She was picked up and taken to a friend of a friend of mine's house, where she lived outdoors for several months with their two English Mastiffs (whom she loved a lot). After having been accused of killing chickens on the property (which ended up being a fox), I adopted her, where she lives as an outdoor dog. However, through no fault of her own, I can no longer keep her. I have a young child and no time to work with her. She's very energetic (as all young dogs are) and my fence can't keep her in. She chases cars and I live too close to a highway for it to be safe for her to live or for me to go out and grab her. As a result, she's been on a tie out for a few months for her safety. She deserves much more than this kind of life. She's super sweet and very playful (albeit rough, but with a bit of obedience training, she'll most likely calm down!) She LOVES car rides and seems to get along with most dogs (my grandparents have an older male lab mix that she adores). She also loves splashing in kiddie pools and playing fetch. Her ideal family would be young/middle age and be one without small kids, elderly, cats, or small pets. They need to be experienced, patient dog owners who will teach her basic obedience commands/manners. Ideally, that means at least one person is home frequently. Due to her chasing cars, she'll need to be kept indoors and be provided LEASHED AND SUPERVISED fenced-in access to the outside. If they're active and love the lake/like to travel, even better! She'll also likely need to be crate and house trained, as well as receive updated vaccines, a heart worm test, and be put on preventives. She is already spayed!
