The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old, and I have been at the shelter since September 24, 2020. There is not much information on this sweet young boy. It's as if he has been forgotten since he didn't pass his dog evaluations. He is only 2 yrs old, but the scars on his face hide his past but his sweet personality shows only love. Schmidt is a boy who is eager to please. He must be ONLY dog in the home; no cats. We think kids over 12 ok. He is not a jumpy guy. Here are the only notes we could find about Schmidt: 9/24/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Wiggly body solicited attention. Allowed all handling and vaccinations with no struggle. 9/24/2020 OBSERVATION Dog was highly aroused while walking to kennels. Hackles up, barking and growling. Did not respond to vocal commands. 9/25/2020 EVALUATION Excited in the kennel; pushed to exit. Pulled hard on the leash. Reactive in the catch pen; would not settle. Placed in a solo yard for continued time out of the kennel. 9/27/2020 EVALUATION Affiliative with handler; in catch pen, stiffened, growled, started lunging at other dogs, higher arousal; Handler brought dog in yard on leash; initially higher arousal, but responded to handler and explored yard on leash; when turning back toward other dogs, this dog started pulling toward/growling at other dogs, but handler was able to exit dog away; did not fully settle, not able to intro to other dogs in close proximity; sent to side yard (level 3 due to reactivity to other dogs).
