Hello, My name is Kayla Outlaw and I live in Indianapolis, IN. My husband and I have had our sweet pitbull boy '21' or 'bubby' for 3 years. We got him when he was small enough to fit in my hand. He is completely house trained, neutered, up to date on rabies, and responds to verbal commands. He is friendly to ANY adult if approached, and does well with older children that understand a dog's boundaries. He is not socialized with other dogs or cats and seems uneasy and unpredictable when getting close to another dog on walks, or if another dog is off his leash but he does not bark. He has been my very best friend and regretfully and with the deepest of sadness, we are in a home and stage in our life where he isn't getting the quality of life he deserves. We had a baby girl in May of 2019 and he was great with her as an infant. But as she starts to get into her toddler stage she has started to invade his space and he has become territorial about his toys and food around her. A couple months ago 21 was playing with his toy and she tried to grab it and he growled at her. Then recently, it was very early in the morning and I wasn't feeling well and was not paying enough attention, and she threw a bowl of eggs on the floor and he took it with him to his bed behind the couch, within 15 seconds of me trying to put her show on the tv, I heard him become aggressive and when she tried to snatch the bowl from him, he tried to grab it back and he nicked her hand. I took her to the ER immediately just to make sure the damage was all superficial. Thankfully it was a mild abrasion. After this second incident, I know that it's mandatory that I keep them separate from one another while she is awake during the day, It's too much of an uncontrollable situation. He goes on a walk with me and my daughter everyday and he comes out to snuggle once she goes to bed at 7 pm but being gated off to our very small kitchen area during the day is not the living conditions he deserves. Please let me know if you can take him in. As I'm sure you can imagine, this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. But like they say, if you love someone you sometimes have to let them go. I want the best for him and will exhaust all efforts to atleast get him into a foster home instead of resorting to a humane society/ shelter. My step dad has a plane, so we are willing to fly to wherever the best home is for him. Thank you for your consideration.
