About Charlie Brown

Dachshund
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

My name is Charlie and I'm a cute 10-year old purebred Dachshund! I'm a trim and muscular 11-lb boy, and my cuddly, laid-back and loyal nature is what makes me adored by my foster parents. They take me for long walks where I trot along at a good pace and mark every bush on the block, and they also take me on car rides with my Chihuahua foster-sister (not too long, though, sometimes I get motion sick). I'm not able to climb stairs easily, due to my short stature and long Dachshund spine, so I wait to be picked up for both going UP and DOWN any stairs. I need to use pet stairs to climb to the couch or bed. I am truly happiest when I'm in the lap or arms of my human, and give many, many kisses. Like a lot of small dogs my age, I have lots of missing teeth and I require frequent dental care. I warm up to new humans and small children quickly and want to be a part of all household activities. Watching TV? I'm there! Playing the piano? I'm your audience! Doing laundry? I'll be silent and right under your feet, so be careful! I am terrific with all sizes of friendly dogs, but my chase instinct for other mammals means I can't live with cats, guinea pigs, etc. At the dog park, I love to run around the perimeter of the action so I can 'police' the other dogs. At home, I'm a part-time thief and will take my foster-sister's food or toy if I think it can be stolen without a fight. For sure, I like to be the alpha dog. This means I mark my foster-sister's little chihuahua beds every chance I get, but my foster parents have a training plan to get me to stop doing that. I rarely bark, unless another dog is barking or I smell an unfamiliar person at the door. I would love a fenced-in yard or patio, as I like to snooze in the sun with my dog friend or humans. I sleep soundly through the entire night in your bed under the covers, without having to go outside. If I'm *not* right at your side, you can almost always find me sleeping on my back on some comfy chair, or trying to get my foster-sister to accept my kisses. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
