When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!!!! My foster mom says life has handed a bunch of lemons and boy have we made lots and lots of lemonade. My former owner no longer wanted me and lucky for me the veterinarian convinced him to surrender me to her. She contacted ADA and my new life of love and caring begin. To look at me now you wouldn't believe that I was severely underweight, had internal parasites, external parasites, eyes were watering horribly, I was positive for multiple tick borne diseases, was missing hair on multiple places, have scars from probable dog bites, and a cough and breathing issues. I was scared of almost everything. Now I am a little butterball that struts his stuff on walks and loves to lay on the couch for belly rubs. I'm a little on the timid side at first but once I get to know you I am a real lover. My foster mom has me on a terrific routine which has been great because I have had very few accidents in the house for the last month or more. Of course, going into a new home and new situation, please be patient with me until I adjust. Since I was trained to be a hunting dog, a home without smaller animals would be best. I am very comfortable and come out of my shell when I am with other dogs that are at least my size or bigger, so I would really enjoy a companion. Because of my past, loud barking dogs scare me so a nice calm dog that likes to play would be an absolute dream for me. I have also found that walks can be fun, and most of the time, I enjoy a good walk. Especially if there's another dog with me. I have to tell you about the absolute best thing I have discovered - FOOD. I love to eat (as you can tell by my new figure). I am not picky. I wasn't given much to eat where I was so I tend to want to eat a lot. And I will eat almost anything, including fuzzy stuffed animals. Because of my insatiable appetite and my fear of sudden loud noises, A home either without children or with older children would be best. I have also discovered the game of fetch. My foster mom will throw a tennis ball or a toy and I will get it and bring it back to her. Sometimes, she will chase me around the yard. Now that I know she's only playing and doesn't want to hurt me I enjoy it tremendously. In Buddhism, Bodhi means enlightenment and all knowing. And I am knowing is that there is a home and family out there that will keep me warm and love me for the rest of my life. I am super sweet and a really good guy who just wants to be with his person and to be loved. So if you have room in your house and your heart and would enjoy a snuggle buddy, check me out. I have so much love to give. I don't remember my birthday but I think I'm about 5-7 years old!I'm a short, chunky guy who weighs about 37 pounds. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella.
