About Gypsy Rose

Adoption Fee: $50
Shar-Pei / Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Good evening everyone..... My name is Danielle and I am reaching out, hoping to get connected, or even find someone or some organization to assit in rehoming my baby girl... here is a little back story on my Gypsy Rose :) I hoped to adopt our furever pup but the stars never aligned right. Until 1 day a local rescue had a beautiful what they thought was a chow mix pup come in with her sister. After further investigation and chatting with Chow orgs we have come to the agreement she is NOT Chow but most likely a Sharpei/Lab mix. Anywho we jumped at the opportunity to grow our family :) sadly the hopes and dreams we had for our girl Gypsy Rose have been nothing like we expected. She has suffered from fear based agression and low self esteem since day 1. She just turned 1 year old in July and we have been torn about the decision on how to deal with her progressive agression. She has nipping/biting history :( We have 4 young kiddos in our home and we fear the worst may happen someday. We had her in puppy classes when she was younger but unfortunately COVID put that on hold. We did the best we knew how to try and teach and train her. However she has mastered being ALPHA :( We had her evaluated by a well known trainer in our area and ultimately after a few weeks of praying and discussing, have come to the family agreement Gypsy needs more help, patience, support, and consistency than our family can provide. It was recommended if she stayed with us she would need 5+ weeks of intense training and years on ongoing therapy. However even after that she shouldnt be trusted around children unsupervised. She does not do well around unknown people or dogs. I believe with some training she could do well with other dogs, as she has a 7lb sister she does great with. She also is pretty good with cats. We have 2 cat, 1 she leaves pretty much alone, and 1 that loves to play chase me/hide and seek with. She has never gotten agressive with either cat or her pup sister. I am more than willing to discuss her demeanor/daily life in more detail if needed. I have contacted the rescue we adopted her from and got the OK from the Board of Directors to try and rehome her to a knowledgable person/persons or Organization. They DO NOT have the means or knowledge to work with her or rehome her. We are located in North Dakota, but are more than willing to travel to get her to the right org/people so she may have a chance at a life. With her being so young we hate the thought of euthanization!! She is fixed and currently UTD on shots. She is due for her next shots next month. I love this dog and want her to be in the best place possible for her to be the best dog possible. This decision has been very very tough on our whole family but we know we can not give her what she needs to succeed. Any potential adopter would need to vetted and be able to provide her the time and training she needs. She CAN NOT go to a home where there are children!! I know this is asking miracles but I believe she could be a great addition to that SPECIAL Person!! She knows basic commands like sit, down, kennel up, shake. She is roughly 40ish pounds and growing :) Any advice, questions, support please feel free to contact me or Email: [email protected]
