About THUNDER

*** EXPERIENCED BREED OWNERS ONLY, PLEASE *** Thunder is a super handsome, 1 to 1.5 yr old, 52 lb. German Shepherd male surrendered to us from a neglectful owner who had him living outside, with no socialization or contact other than daily feedings, and no vet care. Thunder is a very nice, very sweet, calm and easy going boy, who can be initially shy due to his previous lack of socialization. He, like most German Shepherd, is also sensitive in nature, so a calm, gentle household with a confident, even keeled breed experienced owner would be optimal. Thunder likes the company of other dogs and is unaffected by them, even the rowdy, loud ones. Thunder has been around more female dogs than male, so a female companion pooch would be the best fit for him. Thunder does not have great confidence, but has thrived and blossomed with an outgoing, fun female buddy while in rescue. We'd like his forever home to have a good natured, fun and confident female canine companion of equal or smaller size to allow him both play time buddy but also the ability blossom and gain confidence at his own pace. He is smart; eager to please, very loving, and an all-around nice boy. Thunder has not been around children or cats since being in the rescue, but in his previous life had been around chickens, cats, etc and was indifferent to them. A family with slightly older children (above the age of 6 yrs old) would be ideal. THUNDER is neutered, de-wormed, micro-chipped, is current on vaccinations, on monthly heart worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not administer it's own vaccination shots. All of our rescued dogs' medical care has been administered by a licensed Veterinarian. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., pro-biotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
