About Cherry

Cherry is a beautiful 2 year old Boxer/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She was picked up by animal control as a stray & brought to Rosenberg Animal Control & Shelter, where she remained for several months with little adoption interest. She was clearly overbred & not cared for, as she is so young & already heartworm positive. That doesn't hold her back one bit from being the fun loving, red dog that she is. We have started her on slow kill heartworm treatment & she will retest in February. (She would be under a Foster to Adopt agreement while we cover all of her treatment expenses) We fell in love with her care free spirit & knew she needed another chance at life, to be loved the way she should've been. Cherry is a big girl at about 55lbs, however she is a little underweight & should be closer to 60-65lbs. She truly doesn't know a stranger & bonds heavy to her humans. She loves going for walks, has great leash manners, & even ignores the deer she sees in passing in her foster home! She would do best in a home without cats or smaller dogs as she doesn't realize how big she is. She does enjoy the company of other dogs, however she's paid her mommy dues so she would appreciate a more mature & laid back housemate to hang with! Cherry has your typical Boxer temperament - never a bad day & the nub never stops! Being the sweet mama dog that she is, she also adores children. Cherry is spayed, vaccinated, & microchipped.
