About Nate

Adoption Fee: $400
Cairn mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Adoption Pending !!! Nate is a 2 year old terrier mix who is sweet and quiet. Nate was found stray in Texas near a brook so not much was known about his past history. Nate enjoys being in his crate during the day and likes to be up more at night. He is a night owl ! Nate waits to eat until late when his foster parents are ready for bed. Nate gets along well with other dogs both male and female. Nate is a sweet guy that deserves a quiet home. He was rescued with a small group of dogs & each one has found placement except for Nate. Nate spent 2 months in decompression with a foster. Between that experience and the reports from the other dog's adopters, we believe Nate may be a victim of PTSD. We did attempt a low dose of Prozac given daily to help Nate ease out of his shell...unfortunately this was not enough, so we believe that Nate may require behavior modification at the hands of a animal behaviorist. He is content with his crate, and while that is a staple for most types of training, it has not proven effective for Nate. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that just loving and supporting him without these additional resources will be enough. While our goal is not to make you fearful about potentially adopting, we want to make sure we are transparent about Nate and his needs to make sure he does not need to be bounced around. Nate is nervous and while he is never snippy, biting or growling, he does not leave his crate unless we take him out. Nate is not housetrained yet due to his needs and his foster mom leaves wee wee pads out in his room.
