About Sprout

Dachshund / Corgi
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Sprout is just about as small as one would think when you hear the word Sprout. We are guessing at his actual breed mix but believe we are close - he's got many of the personality traits of a dachshund (which makes him a stubborn and sweet boy) and the lovely lush coat of a Corgi. This little guy is maybe eight pounds and is around eight years old. And such an entertaining love bug! When we first met him we thought he was a tad aloof - but that was just his reaction to being in a shelter. Once he got into a foster home his silly side came out and his desire to be with humans became very evident. Not a nuisance barker, he will let you know when he's done outside and it's time to let him back in. Sprout is loving and submissive to his humans though with his small size and age we are looking for a home in which any children are over twelve years old. Sprout gets along with most dogs though, considering he was first neutered just recently, he still thinks other dogs should believe he's 'all that'. It only takes a couple of minutes before that's all settled though. Cats? He's fine with them and they would probably put him in his place anyway. Sprout does great in his crate through the night and very good on a leash. If you are looking for a loving boy that doesn't take up much room and will entertain you to no end, Sprout is the one you've been looking for. Read on or go directly to the adoption process page of our website, throwmeabonedogrescue.org, to apply. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - the link is found of the Adoption Process page. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
