When out in the yard with familiar handlers, she appreciates and actively seeks out petting and solicits attention. It is both reported by her previous owners and observed in the care center that Mama will growl and lunge at strangers. She engages in this behavior both in and out of the kennel. In her previous home, Mama bit and held the small dog in the home and she is reported to lunge and snap at dogs, while on leash. At the care center, she has been observed to bark at other dogs she sees and attempts to cage fight when leaving and entering the dog rooms. We recommend Mama be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Mama to acclimate comfortably to her new environment; force-free, reward based training only is advised when introducing Mama to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Mama presents with outside of the care centers.
