He is very energetic and is used to being walked 3 times per day. He is allergic to grass but loves to play in it. He is also allergic to grains. Patrick previously lived with 2 adults and 2 children 3 yrs and 10 yrs old. Patrick is loving and friendly with people of all ages he meets. Patrick is loving and protective with the children he previously lived with ages 3 and 10. He was very affectionate towards them. Patrick does well with small dogs but barks at some of the larger dogs. If he knows the dog he is playful with them. Patrick is good with cats. He lived with a kitten who he used to share his food and water bowls with. They would drink and eat together. He was previously attacked by a cat in the neighborhood which scratched he and he became aggressive towards it by barking and lunging after it. Patrick does not resource guard. patrick has a bite history. A bite incident with a kitten occured on 7/31/20. Patrick is housetrained. His previous owner describes his energy level as high. INTAKE NOTES - DATE OF INTAKE, 31-Jul-2020: Patrick was friendly towards counselors, able to be microchip scanned, and collared. He did pull very hard and quick towards a small dog walking by on the street. It is unclear if he wanted to greet the dog or was going after the dog BEHAVIOR NOTES Means of surrender (length of time in previous home): Owner Surrender (In home for less than a year) Previously lived with: Adults and children (ages 3 & 10) Behavior toward strangers: Loving & friendly Behavior toward children: Loving, protective, affectionate Behavior toward dogs: Barks at them Behavior toward cats: Killed a kitten, barked & lunged at neighborhood cat that attacked him Resource guarding: None reported Bite history: Yes, Patrick bit and killed a 4 month old kitten in the previous home, picking it up by the neck, shaking it and resulting in puncture wounds on the cat and scratches on Patrick's face. Patrick was also involved in an incident with another dog. A dog who Patrick knows and has previously played well with was walking by him. Patrick broke out of his collar, growled and began biting the other dog on the face, neck and head. Patrick didn't stop biting until someone came outside with water and poured it on the dogs.
