About Sadie

Meet Sadie! If you like to cuddle and snuggle then little Miss Sadie is your gal! Sadie is an absolute sweetheart of a girl who is a one year old Dachshund mix (not sure what else she is mixed with possibly Min Pin) who has the perfect little Dachshund body and the shiniest coat! She weighs about 11-12 pounds and is in great health. She came to rescue because her former family, who had her since she was 8 weeks old decided that it was too much work to have her although they had two other dogs and two kids. When Sadie first came to her foster home she was really shaking like a leaf but because she REALLY likes other dogs she adjusted way quicker than we thought she would. Her foster Mom said she loves to cuddle and give hugs and kisses. She does love to play with other dogs and enjoys a good game of chase. They never walked her on a leash in the year they had her so she is beginning to adapt to that and be less fearful of all the new things she sees. Sadie would do great in a variety of homes although one with another playful dog is STRONGLY preferred. She is good with kids and REALLY likes cats as well. She will not be placed in a home where she will have to sleep in another room as she really likes to be near her person. Her adoption fee includes the following: 1. Spay 2. Current vaccinations including rabies 3. Microchip 4. New harness and leash 5. New bed 6. Starter food An adoption fee does apply. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. 3. How many adults, children and pets in the household. 4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work. 5. Where your pet will sleep. 6. Breed experience. 7. If you do not have a dog your plans to keep her socialized. Some notes to consider before applying for Sadie: 1. Sadie is a Dachshund and it is preferred that prospective families have experience with this breed although not a dealbreaker. 2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. As we have had some confusion as to our adoption process please note: Once we receive an email from you, IF we feel it fits the criteria we are looking for we will email back with a bit more specific information. From there if you are still interested we may or may not move ahead with a phone screen and then a meet and greet. Once we schedule a meet and greet more often than not the adoption takes place with the family we have chosen but it is NOT a guarantee as we do NOT adopt first come first serve. Our first commitment is to the well being of the dog as we back all the dogs we place for life. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
