About Kyssa

Adoption Fee: $300
Borzoi
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

If you are interested in adopting, please apply directly with bigdogrescueproject.org/adopt. Available for adoption in WA or OR. Kyssa is currently located in the Seattle area and is available for meet and greets to pre-approved applications. Kyssa is a purebred, 7-year-old female (spayed) Borzoi. Kyssa loves all people, whether they are strangers or friends. She loves to lick you to say hello, then to sit, lay down, or roll on her back for you to pet her tummy. She spends most of her time in the house where she is content to lay on the floor or couch, especially if she can lounge in a toasty sunny spot! Being a sighthound, she loves to look out the window and watch the world. She enjoys playing tug of war. She does not fetch, but if you throw a toy in the air, she will sometimes pounce on it. She loves to lay down next to you (or on you!) on the couch, and will give a lone 'woof' if you stop petting her. Outside of this, Kyssa rarely barks. She would make the worst guard dog in the world, because if she sees a person, she just wants to make a new friend! Because people rarely see Borzois, Kyssa gets a lot of attention when on walks. She is always happy to interact with people, prancing up to them like a horse to lick their hand (or face!). She loves to be petted and admired. When she's feeling active, her favorite thing is to run. She takes three 20-minute walks a day, but would likely also enjoy running around a yard! Kyssa is crate-trained and is familiar with eating, drinking, and sleeping in her kennel. She is good in the car. She does not bark at all. If she is excited or hasn't had exercise yet, she might try to push her way to the front seat to look out the front windshield (again, sighthound!). If she's already had exercise, then she usually will curl up and lay down in the back. She has never lived with other animals or children. However she does enjoy playing with with other friendly, mellow dogs that are smaller than her, but not tiny. She would not be suited for a home with a large, dominant dog. Kyssa is in need of a new home due to life changes of her current owner. They are no longer able to provide the attention she needs to live her best life. Because she has not lived in a home with children, no homes with small children will be considered. We believe she would be happiest and best suited in a quiet home without the activity of teenagers or young children.
