About Zoe

Lab
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

ZOE 12 years ago i rescued a lab puppy from the shelter, we named her ZOE. After two years we realized she needed WAY more space to run around which we didn't have at the time, and my husband and I were traveling a ton for work. I found her a great family with two kids and a farm up in Agoura Hills. The next day they ended up finding a puppy in a bag that someone had tried to throw in a dumpster at Home Depot, they took it home. They called me to tell me, and said she was so happy to have a best friend. That was the last i heard from them. (Last week) 10 Years go by, and i get a call from East Valley Shelter that they have my 12 year lab!? I was so confused. I made an appt to get her right away. I had no idea what kind of condition she was going to be in. When she left us she was about 50 lbs at two years old. No one re-registered her chip, my name was the last in the system. ZOE NOW: - 80 lbs - arthritis in back legs - needs teeth cleaned - nails have been trimmed (shelter vet) - had ear infection (shelter vet treated her for that) I haven't taken her to the vet yet. She did see the shelter vet. I have all their paper work. She is great with my 4 dogs (2 Yorkie mixes, 2 Aussies). She was great with the two young kids across the street. I have heard her bark once since i got her back here, cause i was downstairs and she wanted me. (She's very quiet.) She follows me everywhere i go in the house. She can do walks - i don't take her far - maybe 6 houses back and forth to do her duties. A yard might be better for now to go outside until she can walk a little better. She loves to walk by other dogs, she wags her tail and wants to say hello. She is eating fine. Once a day. (night time - she wouldn't eat in the am when i got her) I have been giving her powder form vitamins & arthritis meds in her food for her skin and legs. Reason we cant keep her: We live on a tri-level home. Our gated yard is on the bottom level, so she cant get down there. She cant go up and down the steps very well and needs one of our assistance, and i don't want her to - if she breaks a leg, I don't know what the vet would recommend at her age. We have a gate that blocks the dogs off from the bottom levels, but 'little miss houdini' figured how to bust it open with her nose'| so I'm nervous about that. We also have 4 other dogs'| 5 dogs is a little too much for us at this time. I want to see if i can find her last forever home. She's got spunk left in her! I think with some vitamins etc, and some good healthy dog food, she could be a whole new dog! (for some more years)
