About Susie

If you can see this ad, she is still here looking for her Happily Ever After. Susie is a 35 pound Rottie/Lab/Chow/Hound mix who has Dwarfism. (We had her DNA Tested and will share results with applicants.) Susie had a home once but her owner left her with some people who had bigger dogs that were mean to her and they took her to a kill shelter. Deformed dogs are usually not adoptable and PTS and big facilities, but luckily, Susie found a rescuer. She's 3 1/2 years old, spayed, vaccinated, chipped, crate trained (although she doesn't need a crate), and housebroken. Other than her dwarfism - Susie is totally healthy. Her front feet are deformed and there is no surgical fix. She will walk funny and run goofy for the rest of her natural life but she will live a long and healthy life in the right home. Susie will need a joint supplement when she gets older and an owner who can keep her weight healthy. The poor thing struggles with getting along with other dogs, especially large ones. She loves them but is socially inept. She easily makes friends with submissive smaller dogs and will play for hours and hours with her puppy friend here at the rescue. She doesn't mind the cat at all but wants to play with her too so a home with cats would just need to supervise closely for the first few weeks. We'd really prefer she had a home with someone she can play with - kids or a smaller playful dog. She's too playful to be an only pet but bigger dogs beat up on her, we think because of her deformities. Susie can do a few entry steps but a flight of stairs would be too much for her. Someone with a 1-story home would be ideal. She doesn't prefer to be outside at all as walking on hard surfaces hurts her feet. She'll quickly do her business and want back indoors. If you are NOT into long walks with your dog - this is the girl for you. Susie would do very well with some kids to grow up with. She loves to play tug and has a fondness for squeaky toys but she shares very well. She's a very sweet and lovable little girl.
