About Betty

Adoption Fee: $1600
Newfoundland
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Betty is extremely smart and very high energy. She is 2 (born in May 2018). She is great with kids and other dogs, but has a strong prey drive and has killed our chickens, birds in the yard, ans an opossum. She has never been around cats. She can open lever handle doors, and does not appreciate being kept in a kennel. She was kept in one overnight and if we left the house prior to Covid, but since covid we are home 100% and the few times we have tried to put her in her kennel she freaked out and destroyed the kennel. She typically does fine in the house, but will get into trash if it is left where she can get into it. She rings a bell on the door to go out, and does know sit/down/stay/speak, but loses focus quickly if she thinks another dog will get something she wants. She does pretty good on walks after she gets her initial energy burst out. She is not in immediate danger. She has been our family pet for her whole life, and just really wants to be with her people. She is about to go into heat. Our reason for re-homing her is that she has worn out her welcome with my husband. He is not overly patient with dog issues to begin with, and she is pretty hard headed, but SUPER sweet. She is housebroken as long as you take her seriously when she hits the bell to go out. After that she will come and tell you she rang the bell, and if you still ignore her, she will go. You were warned;-). I hate having to rehome her, but it has become a problem with my husband. She has had all Veterinary care and has been insured (Pet's Best) her whole life, has had a good diet/supplements/heartworm meds. Honestly she is a wonderful girl, just needs a patient family who will shower her with attention.
