About Duck

Pet Bird
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

This is Puddles. She is part of a BONDED pair. She must be adopted with her soulmate Waffles. I am reluctantly looking to re-home two beautiful, very sweet, bonded, special needs female Pekin ducks. Their names are Waffles and Puddles. They have imprinted on people and they love to snuggle and be close to their people. They are about 7 months old and have been held and loved and cuddled every single day of their little lives. These little chuckleheads follow us everywhere we go and love to give hugs and kisses. When they were about 3 weeks old, they developed chronic upper respiratory infection. We thought they were going to die several times. I have spent thousands of dollars and so much time trying to save these little guys. So many 'bedside' vigils. We love them so much. Despite all odds they have fought and survived. They are now 7 months old. However my husband has not been able to work since June and I am coming to the end of my resources to help them. It's looking like they are going to need to stay on some type of medication long term or possibly for the rest of their lives. The cost for their medications is not outrageous just more than I can continue to do. Additionally, because of the scarring and damage to their lungs they have not been able to move permanently outside. We live in a small house and having ducks continue to live in my kitchen is taking its toll. I'm looking for someone who loves ducks as much as we do to allow these precious ladies to live out their days as happily as possible. Right now they sleep inside and go out during the day. On really hot days they need to come in to the air conditioning for breaks. During the mild nights they have started sleeping in their coop but I am worried how they will do come winter. It is possible that they may need to have some degree of climate control during the severe summer and winter temperatures. If I stop their medications they begin to decline. So a regular farm wouldn't be appropriate for these girls. I will soon have to stop their medication because all of our savings is almost gone. If this happens I'm afraid it is a death sentence. This thought breaks my heart. If there ever was a couple of ducks that deserved to have every opportunity to have full, happy, healthy lives, it would be these ducks. I need to find a place that would have the resources and would be willing to take them and provide the lifelong care that they need. Pease, please help.
