About Shiva

Shiva is a completely adorable chow chow who is about 2 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. She came to us from a family who was keeping Shiva chained outside but wanted her to have a better life. The change in environment made Shiva scared and defensive for the first few days but she quickly morphed into a happy, loving, playful girl who almost acts like a puppy! Shiva will jump in the air, roll on her foster mom and adores stuffed toys! She even knows how to sit! Shiva is looking for a family who has experience with her breed and knows that she may be stressed in new situations. Shiva's ideal home be fairly calm, would have a fenced yard and give her time to adjust without overwhelming her. She seems to be friendly and wants to play with other dogs but a meet and greet with any current dogs would be required. She has not been around cats and I would not suggest expecting her to be able to live with them. We have not exposed her to young children and really are not looking for a busy home with kids for her. For a chow, Shiva has become super social, loving to her foster parents and active! She has lots of energy and is ready for adventure but she pulls really hard on her leash so you better hold on or be ready to train her! We adore Shiva! She is going to make some chow lover very, very happy! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
