Before you read what the person who saved and nurtured Hati back to health has to say about her, I want to say that this girl is pure gold. She does not have a mean bone in her body. She so wants to trust and be loved. She is a jackpot for anyone looking for a very special girl to love! Pronounced Hot-tea I would like to give you a little information on your new four-legged baby. Hati (pronounced like hot tea) was found on May 28, 2020. I went to a local tire shop that is located on a major highway, there are woods behind this tire shop and that is where she came from. The workers at the shop said they witnessed a truck dump her a few weeks prior to the day I found her. She was very timid around people specifically, males. Since then I have found out that she is very intuitive with humans. Introductions with humans should be taken slow because her bark may be intimidating. (She has never shown any aggression toward any human) The workers then told me they left her scraps at the edge of their business to try and help her. Hati was very timid, skin and bones very malnourished but she was so sweet. The workers informed me that no one could get near her because she would immediately run back into the woods, however that day she decided to get close enough for me to call her and attempt to pet her. It took a few tries and plenty of treats (I always keep extra in my car for that exact reason) after about 30-40 minutes of sweet talking she did not want to leave my side. I put her in my car with no problem at all and then we came home. It took 4 hours to get her dipped and de-ticked she did so well the entire time and once we were done you could tell she was so relieved. I have a house full of animals 5 dogs, 7 cats, 4 foster kittens and a rabbit so we made sure to keep her away from everyone the first few days to let her adjust. To Hati the inside was strange she did not know how to lay on the dog beds or blankets it took her about a week to understand it was ok. From the day I brought her home she has been attached to me always wanting to be in the room I am in or wanting to be in my lap not realizing she is a big girl. After taking Hati to the vet we found out she was heartworm positive had worms and no chip she was about 40lbs at the time. She has since been given her heartworm treatment and her vaccines, spay and currently at 57lbs! We worked on Hati's social skills and finally introduced her to all our babies. At first, she was not ok with any of the animals I was worried she would have to be an only dog. Hati then surprised us when encountering my eldest Pitbull Remy with no problem at all and since then they are best friends. Over the course of about 3 weeks we continued to introduce her to the other dogs. Hati can be specific in what dogs she likes and needs extra time to get comfortable I have found out she in not particularly fond of high energy dogs. If introducing just go slow and I suggest not leaving alone till you are 100% sure she is ok. (I am pretty sure you already know this just being an over protective foster mom) We then introduced her to our cats which especially took some time, she was extremely fixated at first but over a few more weeks she lost interest in them and we were able to leave her in a room with cats with no issues. She loves kittens maybe her maternal instinct, but she knew they were fragile. When around the kittens she would just try and groom them or watch them run around her. She has adjusted so well to the multiple animals in the home. Hati is house trained! She is also kennel trained which we found out is needed when left alone for more than 45 minutes. She is a chewer if left alone, we believe it is an anxiety issue. We only put her in the kennel if we were going to be out for longer than that time or to sleep. We have worked on some training sit, lay down, stay, no begging (she is 'ok' with this one like any fur-baby). When giving treats we use 'gentle' and she gently takes the treat (she is not 'chompy' in any way it is just a precaution I take with all my animals), also she is not food aggressive, YAY! We have also been working on her jumping on her human friends. Hati sometimes will try and run out the front door if you are not paying attention to her. What we do is have her sit on the dog couch and she stays. It does not happen all the time but something I want to make sure you are aware of. She does not automatically charge and jump just sometimes when she wants attention, she lets you know in this way. Since COVID it has been hard to leash train, she does pull a bit, but I am sure with some time she will ace that too! Hati responds better to walking on a harness than with a collar. We have a specific dog couch that she loves to relax on, so if you do not want her on couches, please be patient. Hati LOVES to cuddle, belly rubs are her favorite! I could go on and on about this special fur-baby, but I believe I have given you enough information to fall even more in
